THE HARVEST SEASON IS HERE
WHO MADE THE SEASONS?
Jesus Christ, God's Son: "All things were made by Him; without Him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:3) "God has spoken in these last days by His Son … through whom He made the universe." (Hebrews 1:2)
The seasons were made by His word: And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, and to separate light from darkness, and God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:14-18) He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. (Psalm 147:4) The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. You bring darkness, it becomes night. (Psalm 104:19, 20a)
The duration of the seasons: As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. (Genesis 8:22)
The Son sustains all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3b): "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands." (Acts 15:24) The heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world. (Psalm 19:1-4)
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being (Hebrews 1:3a): Jesus took Peter and James and John with Him and led them up to a high mountain, where they were all alone. There He was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about His departure, which He was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. (Mark 9 and Luke 7)
This Son provided purification for sin: Christ died for our sins. He was buried; He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4) His disciples asked, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" (Acts 1:6)
HARVEST SEASON - THE FIELDS ARE WHITE UNTO HARVEST (John 4:35)
"It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in His own power. But you shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses unto Me in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8) After this He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. (Acts 1:9)
The Son sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven (Hebrews 1:3c): God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)
JESUS
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
(Acts 4:12)

THE DIRECTOR'S CORNER
We talk here about "shifting gears" for our fall program. Most cars today have automatic transmissions that make the changes in gears for going faster, slower, or climbing hills. Some of you are familiar with the older manual transmission where a conscious action is required of the driver (foot on the clutch, foot off the accelerator, hand on the gear shift) in order to handle speed and terrain. In a few days (October 4) our after-school clubs will be starting, and this calls for some serious shifting from the late summer slump. Awana books and materials need to be on hand, starting dates need to be announced in school and in church, volunteers contacted (besides teens and adults from the Camp church, there are 20 to 30 students from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais that will come out and help each week.) Kids have been calling since school started, including some new families that want to be included on our routes. We are also making some changes to give the clubs more unity and improve communication. Please keep us in your prayers.
A word about our clothing give-away-we've been given more clothes this summer than we can handle in our room, so we'll need to refuse any more for a month or two until we get space. Thank you for your concern for those in need. We want this service to reflect God's goodness by offering good quality items.
Scenes from our 21st Annual Praise Banquet on September 18, 2004

About 200 people attended the program which included a musical presented by the BWC young people entitled," Dr. Newheart's Neck-up Check Up." Mr. Floyd Richardson and Mrs. Susie Jefferson told how the ministries of BWC have impacted their lives. Dave McMillan interviewed high school student Jamie Clay about his involvement in Teen Club.
PRAISE GOD WITH US FOR:
· A good number of volunteer leaders from BWC and Olivet Nazarene University who help make the after-school program happen.
· New children enrolled and old ones returning for AWANA Clubs and Teen Club.
· The new furnace for the camp house lower level which has been purchased and delivered.
· A mini-van which has been donated for staff use.
PRAY WITH US …
· That the gospel will be clearly explained and that more young people will accept Christ as personal Savior.
· That the young people will progress from hearing (and repeating) the Word of God to doing what it says in their day-to-day lives.
· For safety in transportation and for continued provision of fuel and repair costs.
THANK YOU.
