OCTOBER 2006

JESUS, THE ONLY NAME

Matthew 1:21
"You shall call His name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins."
Acts 4:12
"Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."
Luke 24:47
"And repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
Acts 10:43
"All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name."
John 1:10-12
"He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
Acts 4:10, 19-20
“Then know this, you and everyone else in Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you completely healed."
They commanded them not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. The disciples replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
Acts 4:29-30
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable Your servants to speak Your Word with great boldness. Stretch out Your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of Your holy servant Jesus."
John 14:6

Jesus: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me."
John 11:25-27
Jesus to Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life, he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God which should come into the world."
Philippians 2:5-11
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus, who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” What does Jesus and His love mean to you? Someone to get rid of? Or Someone to cherish?

THE DIRECTOR'S CORNER
Most of our buildings here at Camp have wood siding. If you have visited and walked around some, you may have wondered why we have randomly decorated some of the buildings with small metal squares nailed to the siding. They are actually covering woodpecker holes. No, we haven't come up with deterrents—just damage control. Just yesterday during lunch at Lizetta's house, there was one hammering away on the siding. I think word has gotten around that all you need to do for a soft nest with free heat for the winter is make a hole in a house. (Tree homes are so cold.) It may be reluctant hospitality, but we DO share our homes with other earth dwellers. But there are things we can learn from the woodpeckers: urgency and persistence. Whatever is most important to me occupies my thoughts and my priorities. For the birds it's survival. For the family of God it must be more. How quickly do I give up trying to reach someone by phone or waiting for a child to come out of his house? Does my lesson planning and sermon preparation carry the underlying urgency of making peace with God before it's too late? What do I allow to discourage me? Remember, we're not alone. Let's stick close to our Master and see His heart.
Our fall club program has started and we’re trusting God for direction and provision. Thank you all for your encouragement and support at our annual banquet and for your ministry of prayer for our staff and volunteers.

THE PRAISE BANQUET
Over 200 people attended our Praise Banquet and enjoyed the program "Faith On Feet" presented by the camp kids.
ProgramProgram

Faith On Feet: "Knowing is good. Doing is better.
I understand in my head what God wants me to do.
I believe in my heart what God says is true.
I prove it in my life by obeying and doing it."

Program
The main characters share Bible stories of people mentioned in God's Hall of Faith (Hebrews 11), beginning with Noah, who proved his faith by building the ark before God sent the flood.

Just like the Bible characters, we should prove our faith by being an example, no matter how old we are: in speech, life, love, faith, and purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

As you pray for us, please remember:
* Awana Clubs: Boys on Mondays; Girls on Wednesdays: Wisdom for leaders' effective teaching that involves flexibility and creativity along with firm discipline as we promote Jesus Christ.
* Thursday: Teen Club: That young people will receive Christ as personal Savior and that the Christian kids would be serious about growing in their Christian faith. Pray for us as leaders to have "listening" hearts to hear and understand what the kids' real struggles are.
* Transportation: Thank God for the safety and functioning of the vehicles that He has allowed us to have.
