GOD'S ANSWER TO OUR SIN PROBLEM
THE SERIOUSNESS OF SIN
Jesus is speaking in Mark 9:42-48: "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'their worm (soul) does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'
Jesus further said in Matthew 8:12, "I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (men of faith) in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom (because of their unbelief) will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
THE GOSPEL OF LOVE
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." (John 3:16-18)
GOD IS WAITING FOR YOU TO COME TO HIM
"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. Since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with Him." (2 Peter 3:9-12a, 14)
ARE YOU AT PEACE WITH GOD? DON'T LET TIME RUN OUT.

THE DIRECTOR'S CORNER
Yesterday (Oct. 5) was our first after-school Awana club of the season. It was boys night. Again this year we required pre-registration by the parents for better communication and accountability, so we didn't know how many boys would be prepared to come. But the phone kept ringing and I had to switch from a van to the bus at the last minute, so we had a good start -- even several new families.
As we settled down in the opening session I was pleased and thankful to see the veteran volunteers and the 8 or 9 college students from Olivet Nazarene University who have chosen to dedicate three hours of their week to be with our children. Having this good leadership makes it possible to insist on and expect a good level of behavior from each of the students, at the Camp and in the vehicles.
Pray with us for turn-arounds in the lives and habits of our young people, courage to go against the familiar flow and choose God's way.
At the recent Praise Banquet we all felt encouraged and supported, and we thank all of you that were able to come.
